Just about to invest in an Organelle M (probably) and I’ve been wondering if it’ll do this job alongside everything else. As I understand it, all MIDI data that’s incoming via the USB port is by default replicated at the MIDI out port (which just needs a breakout lead to convert it to DIN, which is fine). So, does this mean I can connect a USB keyboard to the Organelle to play its onboard sounds, while at the same time having the same keyboard data output from the Organelle via DIN MIDI to a hardware MIDI sound module? Essentially I’m hoping it’ll do USB-to-DIN conversion like the relevant Kenton or Keith McMillen boxes - except of course the Organelle has a battery power option - useful for my needs - which the others don’t. And it would mean one less box in my setup. Have I guessed this right?

Hi -
Yes you can do MIDI Thru from USB-MIDI in to TRS-MIDI out. Here’s a demo:

That’s _exactly it!_ Thanks!

I knew this but forgot about it recently when wanting to do the same thing, so thanks for the reminder!

@chrisk But exactly how can this be done? The video gives no explanation and I have no luck getting the midi from my op1f usb to the midi out of the Organelle M. It works well enough on patches and midi monitor 2.0 definetly receives midi but no midi goes out.

If you take the USB-MIDI connection out of the equation and just play the Organelle’s keyboard, does your device that is connected to the Organelle’s TRS-MIDI Out port receive MIDI?

If not, please indicate which type of cable you are using:
• [TRS-MIDI to 5-PIN DIN adapter](https://www.critterandguitari.com/shop/trs-midi-cable) or
• [3.5mm Stereo Mini cable](https://www.critterandguitari.com/shop/stereo-mini-cable)

Thanks for your response Chrisk!

Yes, device connected to the trs midi of the Organelle do receive MIDI from the Organelle’s keyboard!

Is your OP1 and the device connected to TRS-MIDI out jack set to the same MIDI channel?

Yes, the op-1 and the bass station are both set to the same midi channel.

Strange thing is: the organelle itself will effortlessly send it’s midi to the connected hardware (bass station 2). The organelle will also effortlesly receive midi from the op-1f.
But when a usb-midi device is connected it will receive midi from the usb-device on the selected midi receive channel and output it to the selected output channel ( so it actually filter/merges the signals) according to midi monitor 2.0, but in no way is there ever a note received by the din-midi connected device.
I have tried an op1f as usb-midi input device and tried monitoring/receiving midi input via: rme ucx2, bass station and tt78 (through din). I also tried using my bass station as usb-midi device to the organelle m and tried receiving midi on my cyclone tt78 and rme ucx2(through din) with the same results:no received notes. Am i missing something?
