Although I appreciate this proposal, this would result in a considerably adjustment to the current patch and storage concept. Otherwise it would break the portability of patches as these might refer to samples being stored in a shared location. Also, dependencies would have to be taken into consideration to avoid samples to be overwritten by other patches.
