I am new to Organelle (S), so apologies for such a basic question.
I have a folder full of samples I want to put on my Organelle. I understand how to set up my Organelle with my Mac. However, where in the folder directory do I put my sample folder so all patches can access the files? Indeed, can I just keep the samples (.wav files) on a USB drive?
Hi,
Central sample management does not correspond to the concept of the Organelle.
Samples are being stored in the corresponding patch folders instead.
Ok, so I need to copy my sample folder to the specific patch I want to us? Presumably, relevant patches will have a sample folder that I can add to then.
@Saxtonram here are some ‘best practices’ as you start file management:
Make a backup copy the patch(es) you want to use your samples with so that if you misplace a folder, you’ll be able to start fresh from a working patch.
It’s probably best to copy the sample files into the existing folder within the patch. That way you won’t have to edit the patch to indicate the new location.
It’s worth noticing the sample file type (.wav, .aiff, etc.), sample rate, length, and quantity in the existing sample folder and use that as a guide. For example, if there are only 10 sample .wav files in a patch, only copy 10 of your .wav files into the folder (after deleting the existing .wavs).
Some patches use short samples (e.g. two seconds) that they can be quickly loaded into RAM. If you try to load longer samples, the patch may only play the beginning of the sample (i.e. the first two seconds of a 30-second sample) and/or the patch may load slower than expected.
