(Noob questions)Using Arturia Minilab 3 with 201

Hi, I’ve read some of the posts on midi in via USB but am unsure what does and doesn’t actually make it work. I am trying to use the class compliant, bus powered arturia minilab 3 to control it,.it does not work after re-entering the mother patch but a friend’s Casio piano worked fine. Any thoughts as to what I could do here or just just general insights on the USB midi implementation? Cheers!

Did you find a solution to this? I’m having the same problem with my Arturia Minilab 3. @oweno pls help?

Sometimes USB-MIDI controllers are said to not require a driver (aka ‘class-compliant’) but the manufacturer really means that the controller has only been designed/tested to work via USB with Windows, Mac, and/or iOS. This means that a controller may or may not work with other OSes.

Looking at the “Platform specifications” section of the MiniLab product page only Windows and Mac OSes are included. The MiniLab manual doesn’t cover this topic. It is probably worth reaching out to Arturia to see if they have any workarounds.

You can use the 201’s TRS-MIDI input with the MiniLab’s 5-Pin MIDI output using a TRS-MIDI Adapter (Type A).

Thanks Chris! I’ll definitely reach out to Arturia as well.

Minilab works perfectly well with Organelle, though. Is there anything I can do on the 201 side? I’ve tried changing the midi channels too but that didn’t work.

I eventually just end ordering a trs midi adapter, i’ve found that some older casio and yamaha keyboards work alright.

We’ve heard from other 201 & MiniLab users that pairing the two via USB-MIDI doesn’t work. You will have to use the dedicated MIDI ports.
