Hey there, Eyesy folks! I just wanted to let you know I just cobbled together a Python-based “EyesyOS Emulator” which you can find here.
Some of the modes I’ve been coding (with the assistance of ChatGPT and Gemini) have been pretty CPU intensive for the Eyesy and I wanted to see what they looked like running on a more robust desktop platform.
It requires Python to be installed and I can’t really guarantee it will work on anything besides my Windows 10/11 systems with Realtek HD sound. But there is some code that might be able to detect Sound Blaster cards… if those are even still a thing? Scene saving and loading is not available and the palettes are limited to four internally generated ones. Thinking of adding MIDI functionality after I work so of the other kinks out.
Anyways, I hope this kind of program is allowed. I do recall there was another person who made an Eyesy emulator some years ago. But I wanted to take a stab at it. Anyhoo, I’d love it if someone checked it out. I love feedback so feel free to chime in. And if there’s a MacOS Python person out there who wants to add sound device compatibility that’d be just peachy.
Here’s a link to a short demonstration video using a mode I made earlier this year.
