My 201 will not turn on - SOLVED

Hi there,

Diving back into the 201 after selling mine a couple years back. I bought one used from a reputable eBay shop but it is not turning on with batteries or an adapter. It was packed very well and with no damage, so I don’t think it was a shipping issue. When I use fresh batteries or a power adapter, the 3 LEDs cycle thru and then just turn off. No sound or clicking is emitted and it doesn’t try to cycle thru itself. The power LED is not red, so it’s not low battery.

I have held down the power button, inserted and taken out an SD card and tried all the tricks to no avail. Has anyone else had this issue? If so, how did you fix it?

Resolved it by flashing the SD card with the 201-PocketPiano-v1.1 file.

Good to hear an OS re-flash solved it! Thank you for the update.

For any future readers, it is highly recommended that you re-flash the OS (aka ‘factory reset’) after purchase of a pre-owned instrument (201, Organelle, EYESY, etc.). A fresh OS install cleans up any changes a previous owner may have made and makes troubleshooting that much easier.
