201 Pocket Piano Discontinued?

Is the 201 discontinued? If so, why?

Yes, we stopped producing the 201 earlier this year.

Thats too bad! May I ask why?

oh really? Oo it wasn’t really in production that long, was it? was looking to get second one when they became available again, just for 6x Segmenti

Oh, well that’s a shame. I have one in my ambient setup. I seldom don’t get to get past the Septavox or Vibraphone patches before I have something unique to riff upon. I’ll be very curious what is next. I’d love to see a “301” with the larger speaker out of the Organelle. The stock 201 rectangular speaker struggles with low frequencies.

I guess this explains why we haven’t seen any official C&G 201 modes get released in a while. While it makes sense these would slow down if C&G is moving on from the platform I’d love to see them continue to support it from the software side. I think there’s still a lot of unexplored potential for the 201. A Bolsa Bass patch and the ability to record samples directly on the hardware would have been killer. That being said, the 201 is still great and I’m super grateful to C&G for bringing it into existence

The 201 is challenging to produce, there is a lot going on under to hood compared to the original Pocket Piano! The good thing is the software can live on in other devices, as an Organelle patch, or maybe as a revised Pocket Piano form factor. We have some other electronic experiments going on that might lead to revisiting the idea again.
