Foot Pedal?

Anyone know if there’s a way to use a foot pedal and/or midi controller to control any 5 moon functions? Would make recording guitar much easier. It’s hard to hit the record button and then quickly play something with two hands.

bumping this because i’ve been dreaming of this too!!

Anyone know if this is possible yet?

I’ve been thinking about this for months and finally got into it yesterday. a mechanical solution to an electronic problem ::)) i bought a 4 foot throttle cable for RC model planes for 8 dollars, but otherwise used shop scrap and stuff on hand to make a foot pedal switch presser. some lathe and milling machine work, and a ton of fussing around. it’s just what it looks like - a mini spring clamp and a popsicle stick. and miscellaneous other plywood, aluminum and brass, and stuff.

i folded over one jaw of the clamp to fit into a shallow v-groove in the aluminum angle, which keeps the presser aligned and square, just squeeze the clamp and slide it to a different channel. a concern i had was that a human foot can exert a lot of force, which is way too much for a tiny button on a circuit board, so I found that some flexibility in the movement is perfect… there’s enough sponginess in the mechanism so that no matter how hard i press the foot pedal, it doesn’t translate to more force than needed to do the work pressing the button.

intended to just prove the concept and work out the design and moving parts, and had thought I’d 3d print some of the parts for a nicer working model, but it works amazingly well so I don’t know how necessary that is… or how motivated I’ll be to do that.

it meets the requirements I wanted - to be easy to switch tracks, to not interfere with normal operation whether it’s hooked up or not, to be removable for regular use, and to be as minimally destructive to the device as possible.

Amazing! I’ve been thinking about this for months too and didn’t come to any real solutions. Thanks for sharing!

Curious about the fader caps you used for your build - what size are they, what do I search for?

many moons ago someone else here linked to these for that purpose:

i had that saved in my amazon cart but never bought them because I found a bunch of them in a storage bin at work. trim them to length and sorta stretch them over the faders. that amazon pack is a little dopey since there are only four of each color - the person who showed them here had a different color on each fader, but I’m sure there are larger packs or something as well.
