New EYESY OS v3

I see the same error messages and can confirm the error appears to be the supplied microSD card (8GB Toshiba, marked with a pink line).

I just reflashed everything using another microSD I had around (Lexar 32GB) and it worked on the first try.

the screen is identical to the one @bazzhandler posted. Flashed on a mac using the stock toshiba 8gb microsd card with a pink marker slash through it. I was able to flash back to os 2.3 to get the eyesy functioning again and that’s working fine for now.

when booting up, it briefly showed the multicolored startup before quickly switching to this blue screen. I’ve tried flashing as a zipped and unzipped file with the same results.

Do you have another microSD around that you could try? It fixed the same issue on my end (and with the same orignal microSD as you)

The only other microSD I have is 4gb unfortunately! Was hoping to see a fix here before buying a new one, but may just have to go for it. Glad to see it fixed your issue!

It looks like a problem is with the Toshiba cards which are a little bit smaller in size than the one we are currently using. When it boots up the system is expecting a card slightly larger in size which leads to the errors.

The disk image is updated to resolve this issue. If you just trash the one you previously downloaded and try downloading and flashing again, hopefully it will boot up normally. Sorry for the trouble and thanks for the patience!

Hi @oweno & @chrisk! First of all, thanks for making this happen!!! I’m very excited but
unfortunately, I’m unable to connect to my WiFi. It seems like the AP function has been removed in EYESY OS 3.0, and the on-screen keyboard is missing some important characters that I need for my password. I assume EYESY OS 3.0 is based on Bookworm, as manually creating a wpa_supplicant.conf file in /etc/wpa_supplicant/ also doesn’t work. Is there any other way I can connect to my WiFi? I couldn’t find any detailed solutions in the manual and would greatly appreciate your help. Thank you!

Yeah the AP functionality got removed, it wasn’t working with many WiFi adapters including the one we have in stock.

You are correct, OS 3 is based on Bookworm which uses NetworkManager for WiFi configuration, so you can use the “nmcli” command to connect:

sudo nmcli dev wifi connect "network" password "password"

Thanks for the swift reply @oweno! I forgot to mention that I was accessing the SD card on macOS using ExtFS and don’t have commandline access on the EYESY - hence I’m unable to run nmcli. Is there any other way to get to the EYESY commandline without SSH/WiFi access (preferably without getting an USB Ethernet adapter)?

Ableton Link was removed. A lot of the back end was re-shuffled and we didn’t get to adding it back in, but we can take a look for future update.

If you have a USB keyboard, you can plug it in and press the ESC key to exit the video program. Then Ctrl-Alt-F3 which will bring up a console to login. user and pw are both “music”, then you can enter commands.

Fantastic - this did the trick, I’ve connected an USB hub to EYESY, keyboard and the WiFi USB dongle to the latter and was able to connect to my WiFi! Thanks for the great support @oweno!

Thanks for the answer on this! Please consider re-introducing Ableton Link as a feature request for a future update.

New OS seems to be loading all good on my Orange Eyesy. Very excited to explore the new OS but I am running into a problem with WiFi and Network Setup. I am able to connect to my network but not the IP. I am using the originally included wifi adaptor.

Any ideas for troubleshooting?

That is strange.. Sometimes it takes a second to show up, if you exit the WiFi setup screen and then open again does it show up? What do the logs look like at the bottom of the screen?

That didn’t work initially but a few power cycles and a sleep later and we’re in business!

excellent ! worked perfectly – thank you !

My EYESY booted up fine after one boot issue and a reflash using the original image. Am I in the clear or should I flash with the new version?
