Orac 2.0

hey, thanks for the quick reply! it makes sense and also felt like it was CPU related. I will try to download and work with the multicore modules! As I read about it, I found that it is an option to replace the sd card with a faster one (currently it has a 8gb Toshiba V10, which probably is the one it was shipped with). Does that allow a better performance on orac/orhack or just small improvement? and is it difficult to replace it? because I would love to use it in live performance but these cpu overloads make me worried…

I have replaced my SD card but didn’t find that it really made a massive difference. I do like it for the added storage however and would still recommend it if you use a lot of samples. It is not a hard modification to do though, it just requires flashing the Organelle operating system onto a new SD card but you will be starting your system from scratch so I would back your patches up to a USB stick and transfer it later.

The only thing that I found that it may have helped with is cutting down my loading time when opening Orhack or loading modules. It may also have helped with loading times for loading in different kits, and samples but it doesn’t really have any huge effects on CPU. My best advice is use multicore modules as much as possible, use single threaded modules as least as possible, and if you are using Orhack, put your reverb into the sends. If you find yourself still needing more juice, I would check out this thread.

This shows you how you can overclock your organelle to squeeze additional cycles out of your CPU but be warned, this does immediately void your warranty and may damage your Organelle. I have done this modification to my Organelle and used the same heat sync as @RPLKTR and am able to run a maxed out Orhack session except in rare cases where I am reliant on single threaded modules. I would definitely recommend monitoring your CPU temperature for a few days to make sure you installed the heat sync correctly. I did this mod the day after my Organelle’s warranty expired but I am very happy with how it has turned out!

Some original orac goodness. Just so powerful.
I’m going to give orhack a good go soon! The fact that you can bounce out all the tracks separately is a huge plus for me.
I’m a little scared to learn a new version of the interface…how has everyone got on with learning the changes?

There are negligible differences between Orac and Orhack. Everything you know about Orac will still generally apply. The thing that does it for me is the 4th chain and new router. The functionality that you get and expect from Orac is still all contained in Orhack but improved. The modulation learning and unlearning is actually doable with effects sends, master effects, and a bunch of new devices. It also has level meters for each chain in the router similar to Parallel3. Orhack has become the de facto way that I personally choose to run Orac

Awesome, looking forward to digging in

Hey everyone! I wanted to announce a little update to Braids that I put together. I call it Branks. It is Braids but it allows for the storing and recall of up to 24 different presets! Let me know what you think

Faust’s DX7 ported to Orac.

Thanks to @T8R for the template to help me find my way in Orac (if you want to check it works properly that would be great!). As said on patchstorage it uses 2 processors as it’s a very greedy patch and needs 8 notes of polyphony to work nicely with longer release times.

Looking forward to playing around more in Orac.

I cant wait to try it out!!

So awesome! Works great in 0rhack too. With this module, branks+, and sfplayer+ you can pretty much play any sound with ORAC and 0rhack. You guys all make great things here. Thank you! Also Onions Rings is pretty dope too.

Hey everyone! I’m very excited to release the new and improved 4track!

This version has addressed many issues that were present in previous versions. The biggest being loops would gradually drift out of time. I have since added retriggering which I have explained a little further in the description but it works great! You can also now resample, write to disk, redo, reverse, and offset loops.

I haven’t implemented a reverb, delay, or compressor built in to keep this light but if you would like a version with that included let me know and I can implement it with relative ease.

My favorite use case for this now is to be able to have a Branks+ or Sfplayer+ before this to make fuller loops that use multiple presets or sounds generated by these synthesizers. I’ll see if I can put together a demo track/tutorial soon for it!

This is great, right off the bat is it just me or does the sound itself actually seem fuller in some modules? Not sure if i am imagining it or if it is a result of the new way stereo is handled..

Hi everybody, I need some advice:
I’m searching for a PIANO that works in ORAC 2.0 and I didn’t found any so far.
I like the CinematicPiano a lot, for example and the LoFi as well. But I can’t find them in the folder of available instruments when I started ORAC.
Anyone switching on a light for me
Regards

I recommend sfplayer+ module with a good quality soundfont download

I am absolutely new here and with the Organelle. Is that one sample player for the Organelle that works in ORAC 2.0?
Because on top I am no programmer at all, just a user who is looking for the right addition to his live-performance.
Thanks for your recommendation!

Depending on your model of Organelle I would recommend upgrading to 0rhack instead of Orac. Both work great but if you have the Organelle M or S I would say 0rhack is the way to go. Sfplayer works with Orac great and if you upgrade to 0rhack I would say get sfplayer+.

Thanks for this info.
I already have downloaded it, but the tutorial video looked a bit much for a newbie like me
I perform with an MPC, guitar with loads of ChaseBliss pedals and try to add a Norns Shield and an Organelle S to the set up. So I will dive into Orhack this evening!
Thank you

Hey guys! I took a crack at porting the Loop Rec Jam patch with a few changes. It’s had the Jam and Loop modes taken out with it always being on rec mode. It has proven to be a great way to sample and load up the kits with new material fast

Hi! Hoping someone still looks at this old thread and can help me with a seemingly silly problem. I’ve spent a lot of time searching different forums for the answer and haven’t managed to find it on my own.

I use the Organelle S2 in live performances and use a midi foot controller to send program change messages to select between patches in my favourites folder. I’d like for one of the favourites to be Orac 2.0. The organelle does let me select orac as a favourite via PC, but once I’m there I can’t switch to another “normal” patch.

I am able to switch from Orac to a different favourite with organelle’s footswitch scrolling mode, so that’s my workaround for now. But it means I can no longer use the footswitch to control my patches, so it’s not a great solution.

I’m a relative newbie to all of the above, so please go easy on me if there’s an obvious solution to this problem. Really hoping someone out there can help me out!
