OS Update - SD Card Corruption?

I just updated my M to latest version, first few times everything fine, today I turned it on and it wouldn’t boot, and would not turn off, so I removed power and tried again, a few times it still would not boot, eventually it did boot and PLAY patches worked fine, but EXPLORE patches were showing up but when any of them selected NO PATCH. I also noticed some screen issues where old text was persisting, I was unable to power off so I again had to remove power. I tried again and it booted up fine and worked as expected. Any ideas why this happened? At first I thought perhaps a corrupted card, but now I’m not so sure as it started working again.

Forgot to mention the Zone patch isn’t outputting any sound at all, loads and displays but no audio, all the other patches I have tried seem fine.

It sounds like the card could be corrupted. Things like files or folders disappearing, or intermittent failures usually are symptom of filesystem or disk issues. If you have an HDMI cable you could boot it up connected to a TV or monitor and see if you get any error messages. Or just try a new card if you have one.

Thanks @oweno I tried another card which seems ok so far, however Zone patch still not outputting any sound. Note, I used a fresh download, new card and different computer and software to flash the image.

The disk image for OS5 has an older version of the Zone patch. Please use the updated one found here: Zone | Patchstorage

Thanks @chrisk I think a couple of the other patches may not be working too, is there a list anywhere of which ones need updating?

I have flashed a few cards now so have some spares (new old 8gb class 4 Sandisk Ultra) that I bought years back when I first got my M - is there a recommended card for OS5.1 or will those be ok? I like to have a few spares so don’t mind getting some other cards, I can always use the old ones for the v4 firmware.

The most up-to-date version of all of the C&G patches (less the PLAY patches) is available here:

RE: SD card specs: any Class 10 or UHS Class 1 (10 MB/s) or higher from a reputable brand will be fine.
