Eyesy MIDI Question with new OS

I’ve been using Eyesy for around a year now and just updated to the new OS. My question is, are all of the default modes that are loaded onto Eyesy supposed to respond to MIDI? I use a Korg SQ64 controller as my main clock source. Some modes appear to respond to the given BPM, shapes move around, etc., while others do absolutely nothing. Obviously the control knobs will move associated shapes, colors, and sizes, but it appears that something may be wrong with how I am controlling the Eyesy because running hardware tests in the new OS, my MIDI tests do not pass. I’m still troubleshooting and will continue to play around with my configuration but was curious if anyone has any insight with the new modes/controls? Thanks!

Hi - no, not all modes are designed to respond to MIDI clock.

The modes that start with 'S - ’ are an oscilloscope in some form (linear, circular, etc) and these are designed to respond to audio input. Some of these modes like S - Bits Horizontal, S - Bits Vertical, and S - Grid Polygons can use a ‘trigger’ to change position, shape, etc. depending on the mode. To set the MIDI clock as the trigger source, use the On Screen Menu (more info in the manual).

The modes that begin with 'T - ’ are ‘trigger modes’ which uses a ‘trigger event’ to generate a visual change. These are the modes that are designed for use with external MIDI clock (and other trigger events - see manual link above)

Are you referring to the ‘Hardware Test’ listed on the the EYESY’s On Screen Menu? If so, how are you connecting the SQ64 to the EYESY…via TRS-MIDI or USB? The MIDI In connection part of that hardware test is only testing the EYESY’s MIDI TRS input port…more in the manual.

Awesome, thank you I never realized S - modes were different, but that makes sense. I am using the TRS-MIDI adapter with the 5-pin cable for both SQ64 and Eyesy. I think I just need to troubleshoot a bit more because once you explained the first part, it made me realize I have been using the MIDI correctly. I think it was more of an “I am unsure and just need to hear it from an expert” way of thought. Thanks again!

RE: TRS-MIDI input jack: I forgot to mention that the hardware test expects that you press and hold MIDI note numbers 60, 62, 64 at the same time. These note numbers correspond to ‘middle’ C, D, E.
