Having trouble getting MIDI into an Organelle from a DAW

I’m new to using external MIDI devices.
I’ve connected the Organelle M to Live as a controller no problem with the E-MU midi 1x1. I’m not having the same kind of luck with is getting MIDI from Live into the Organelle.

Here is where the noob emerges. I’m starting to glean that I need a different cable scheme to get MIDI to the Organelle. It’s not just a matter of plugging the E-MU into the MIDI IN port of the Organelle…if that is the case, what would be the most portable thing I could get?

So using the EMU XMIDI 1x1 between the Organelle M and your computer running Ableton Live - the USB plug is connected to your computer, and the Grey MIDI In plug is connected to your M, right?

If you want to send the M MIDI from Live, just connect the XMIDI’s OUT (the black plug) to the M’s MIDI In. (You’ll have to use a TRS-MIDI cable but it sounds like you already know that / have one).
